About Sean Reynolds

I'm Dr. Sean Reynolds, a Charlotte-based trombone teacher and low brass educator specializing in private trombone, euphonium, and tuba lessons. With a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Trombone Performance and Pedagogy, I help students of all ages improve their technique, build confidence, and achieve their musical goals through personalized instruction.

As a professional trombonist and experienced music educator, I have helped students prepare for All-District and All-State auditions, solo performances, honor bands, and college music auditions. My goal is to provide students with the tools they need to become stronger musicians, more effective practicers, and confident performers.

Teaching Philosophy

Great musicians are developed through intentional practice, strong fundamentals, and a clear understanding of how their instrument works. In my lessons, students learn more than just how to play the right notes, they learn how to practice effectively, solve musical challenges independently, and develop the skills needed for lifelong growth as musicians.

Every student has different goals, experiences, and challenges. Whether a student is just beginning on trombone, preparing for an audition, or pursuing a career in music, I create personalized lessons that meet each student where they are and help them take the next step.

Professional Background

I earned my Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Trombone Performance and Pedagogy from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music, where I studied performance, teaching methods, and chamber music. I maintain an active career as a professional trombonist, performing with ensembles throughout the region while continuing to share my experience with the next generation of musicians.

Through private teaching, university instruction, and performance experience, I bring a combination of practical teaching strategies and professional-level musicianship to every lesson.
